Join us for PolaCon2016 – a 3-day instant film convention, conference and meet-up in Dallas and Denton, Texas. Brought to you by Instant Film Society, partnering with Film Photographic and Denton Camera Exchange, #PolaCon2016 will feature special guest speakers and photographers, panel discussions, a “swap meet” area, an instant film exhibition, pop-up galleries, 8×10 demos and photobooth, as well as film- and camera-specific talks, walks and meet-ups. And we promise more great, BIG surprises.

This schedule is fixed, yet fluid and by no means comprehensive. In fact, there will be many surprises for attendees this weekend. Also, to maintain the organic, analog feel of the event, all “start” and “end times” for workshops, guest speakers, demos, etc. are flexible.

Friday, September 30 — DALLAS

*12 p.m. to 6 p.m.Patrick Tobin of The Impossible Project at Don’s Used Photo Equipment for in-store demos. Open to the public; No RSVP required.

*Polaroid Scavenger Hunt No. 1
– revealed at noon by Don himself and on Don’s Instagram account: @donsusedphoto [Entries must be submitted in the provided envelopes to Patrick Tobin by 6 p.m. – Or to IFS no later than the 8:30 p.m. meet-up inside The Tower Building in Fair Park. Read the provided instructions carefully. No. 1 requires 5 frames.]

*4 p.m. Deep Ellum meet-up & “mini” #PolaWalk to Fair Park. Meet at 4 p.m. at Cold Beer Company 3600 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226. Then at 5:00 p.m. we’ll walk to Fair Park for the big meet-up at Big Tex at 7 p.m. Open to the public; No RSVP required. NOTE: If you bring a 20 oz. bottle of Dasani to donate, admission to the fair is ½ off on opening day.

*7 p.m. The 5th Annual Rain-or-Shine #PolaWalk at The State Fair of Texas – Meet BEHIND Big Tex! You should see the heels of his boots, not the toes.) At 7 p.m. we’ll snap a big group portrait, encourage camera swaps and IG handle swaps. If you can’t make it due to traffic (or don’t want to walk from CBC), then we’ll meet-up again at 8:30 p.m. inside The Tower Building in Fair Park. *8 a.m. – For the early risers: Coffee, Bluegrass, and “Instant Film 101” Workshop and PolaWalk [discussing pro-tips and the basics] with Daniel Rodrigue, co-founder of The Instant Film Society. Meet at West Oak Coffee Bar (say you’re attending PolaCon before you order for a 10% discount). After folks grab a fresh-baked pastry and some coffee, we’ll start walking at about 8:15 a.m. Open to the public; No RSVP required.
